Do I need special hardware to scan tickets?
No. The Matter Tickets scanner works in any modern mobile browser — no app download, no dedicated hardware, no barcode readers required.
What you need
- A smartphone or tablet with a working camera
- A browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox — all work)
- An internet connection at the venue
That's it. Open mattertickets.com/organizer/scan, select your event, and your camera becomes a ticket scanner instantly.
Multiple scanners
You can run the scanner on as many devices as you want simultaneously. Check-in status syncs in real time, so if one device scans a ticket, it shows as checked in on every other device immediately.
This means you can have multiple entry points with different volunteers all scanning at the same time, and you won't get duplicate check-ins.
Sharing access with your team
You don't need to hand out your login credentials. From your event overview, generate a check-in token — a unique link that opens the scanner for your specific event. Share that link with your team and they're ready to scan. Learn more about sharing scanner access.
What if there's no internet at the venue?
The scanner requires a live connection to verify tickets against your database in real time. If the venue has unreliable signal, we recommend downloading the attendee list as a CSV before the event as a backup, and manually checking names against it if the scanner is unavailable.
