A ticket says it was already scanned — what do I do?

When the scanner reads a QR code that has already been checked in, it shows a warning with the time and date it was first scanned.

What it means

Each QR code is unique and can only be checked in once. If the scanner shows "already scanned," one of these is likely true:

  1. The attendee genuinely already entered — they came in earlier and are re-entering, or someone else used their ticket
  2. The same ticket was scanned twice by mistake — can happen at busy entry points if two scanners hit the same code
  3. Someone is presenting a copied or shared QR code — screenshots of tickets can be shared, so two people might show up with the same code

What to do

Check the scan time — the scanner shows when the ticket was first used. If it was scanned seconds ago at another entry point, it's probably a legitimate double-scan and you can let the person in. If it was scanned hours ago, investigate further.

Look up the attendee — from the Attendees tab in your dashboard, search for the buyer's name or email. You can see which tickets are checked in and when.

Use your judgment — you know your event. A family market is lower risk than a high-demand concert. Set a policy in advance so your team knows how to handle it consistently.

Undoing a check-in

If someone was checked in by mistake, you can undo it. From the Attendees list, find their ticket and choose Undo check-in from the action menu. The ticket returns to "not checked in" and can be scanned again.
