Do I need Stripe for free events?

No. Stripe is only required when your event involves a payment from the buyer.

Free events

If all your ticket types are priced at $0, you can publish and run your event without connecting Stripe. The checkout flow still works — buyers register with their name and email, receive a confirmation, and get a QR ticket — but no payment is processed.

Mixed events (some free, some paid)

If your event has both free and paid ticket types, you do need Stripe connected. Even if a particular buyer only selects the free ticket, the payment infrastructure needs to be in place for the event overall.

Donation tickets

If your event includes a donation option or flexible-price tickets with a minimum above $0, Stripe is required.

Connecting Stripe later

You can create and save your event without Stripe, then connect it before you publish. The system will prompt you if Stripe isn't set up when you try to go live with a paid event. Learn how to connect Stripe.
