Accept donations at checkout

Matter Tickets supports two ways to collect donations: flexible-price ticket types where buyers pay what they choose, and a donation field that appears alongside regular ticket types.

Flexible-price ticket types

When you create a ticket type, you can switch the pricing mode to Donation / flexible price. This lets buyers enter any amount at checkout — useful for pay-what-you-can events, community events, or fundraisers where you want to lower the barrier to entry.

You can set:

  • Minimum price — the lowest amount a buyer can enter (can be $0)
  • Suggested amount — pre-filled in the field as a nudge, but buyers can change it

Enabling a donation field

You can also add a separate donation option to your event that appears at checkout alongside standard tickets. Enable this from the Ticket types page under the Donations section:

  1. Toggle Accept donations on
  2. Add a label (e.g. "Donate to the community fund")
  3. Optionally set a suggested donation amount

Buyers can then add a donation to any order, regardless of what tickets they choose.

Charity giving

Matter Tickets lets you direct a portion of every ticket sale to a charity of your choice. This is configured separately under your event settings. Learn more about charity donations.
